Richard played bass for Marty Balen for several years after Marty left Jefferson Airplane (Starship?). I believe Richard played on at least one single that made the top 20. All reports suggest that Mr. Balen was an egotistical jerk.

Richard also jammed with the Tower of Power as well as touring Japan with Marty. He is one of the swellest gentlemen I know. A fine fine Being. He has been sick I hear, so please send prayers.

this beautiful man has been healed by the Lord Jesus herself and for that we are all thankful that we are graced by the beauty of his soul for another few decades. Let's just hope he keeps his booty washed. Keep praying. It works. Bless......

Do you know anything about Richard Bassil who's a bassist who worked with Marty Balin? He worked with me on my own project!

Bassil did a lot of dope out on the Coast during thoes days (late 70's early 80's) But was able to record a major top ten hit (Hearts) with Marty Balin. He also hung out with some cool dudes and played with some great musicians.

How can it be that the silky sacrin sweet chessy charm of 'Hearts'was influenced by tons of dope and cheap cigars? Where is Balin now? Why is he not in the new JS band? Bassil is a cool cat and wonderful songwriter to boot. Balin should have let him write instead of a bunch of other goons and nashville cover boys trying to get hits.
