I lived in Gainesville about seven years ago. Before that I lived in Clearwater. I used to date this girl named Shena Baruch. She had a little sister named Estelle. Shena went to Gainesville and I'm guessing Estelle followed suit. I'm guessing. But it seems likely that these are the same people. I remember that every one in the family was beautiful. So if this Estelle is really pretty they are probably the same. I want to talk to Shena. If there is any way for me to get in touch with anybody in that family...
I'd wager they're related, judging by this gentleman's reaction to Shena. I never met Estelle personally, but I knew who she was, and I seem to remember having "Estelle's sister" pointed out to me once. Apparently, both sisters have the power to turn men to jello. I can think of three guys I knew in Gainesville (this is off the top of my head, I feel like I met hundreds) who were rendered slack-jawed and mute at the sight of Estelle; or got misty-eyed over the time Estelle took an Alligator out of the box right after they had, so that their hands nearly touched; or remember fondly a time when Estelle smiled at them as she rode past on her bike. For a space of about three or four months, everyone I met had a secret, debilitating crush from afar on Estelle. She was the queen of the Gainesville heartbreakers, though in her defense I don't think she knew about many of these secret crushes. (Maybe the Baruch sisters are unaware of their own power. On the other hand, maybe they know EXACTLY what they're doing and won't stop until all of Gainesville is under their control!) Anyway, I resolved NOT to develop a crush on Estelle--a feat I acheived by graduating and moving. I'm safe now...but for how long?
Estelle is truly gorgeous - having met her while she was on tour with Brittle Stars I was truly amazed. She's also a really sweet person too - she was only too happy to sit and chat with me for a while after the show.
Shena is in a band now too, called "Citra Super". They have a single out on Shelflife records (
www.shelflife.com).
actually, the sisters are both insecure freaks. and aging badly.
it's funny that this is a bans site and most of these emails aren't about music at all. it's also funny that nobody includes their names. i personally like/liked the brittle stars. i also like shena and estelle. they are people. they are not goddesses, heartbreakers, insecure freaks, or aging badly - they are just like anyone else. it sounds like 12 year olds have placed the other posts-- are you really college age and beyond? get a life
you didn't include your name either. for the record, i have met estelle and she is sweet, and very pretty.
This is my favorite band EVER. Estelle is indeed beautiful and sweet, but her real power lays in her songwriting. The Brittle Stars rule. Most of them do not live in Gainesville any more. Josh and Steve still do, but Estelle is breaking hearts in NY and Dan is now a Sostrom and lives in Sacramento. He runs a label. He has a store. www.tonevendor.com Shena was never really in the band, but she's now a mom! (And yes, Avery seems to have inherited the beauty trait, too).

brittle stars are good & all,
but their grind band "the brutal scars" was way, way better.
you don't really know estelle until you see her in the pit!!!
