The first "punk" show I ever went to was at Pin Pan Alley on University, in the same plaza as the Purple Porpoise. It was Mutley Chix, Scared of Stares (or Stairs), Jehovah's Sicknesses, and Stillborn from NY. A few years later I got fired from my job at Beer World because I left early to go to Sharon's final show (I think that's what it was) at the Bar, or whatever the Bar had turned into by then. The Chix ruled... I loved 'em all.

Mutley Chix graffiti can still be found etched into the sidewalk on University Av in front of Ayers Medical Plaza

I just unearthed some video footage I had taken of the Chix during practice at their warehouse. I shot it for a documentary that aired on Cox Cable back in early '91. Boy that was a fun time going around meeting the bands and putting them on T.V. Erik Johnson

I saw Mutley Chix back in like '89 or something. It was real punk. The drummer had no top on just duct tape covering her tits. Thats puck as fuck. I remember hearing that the singer was Rivers gal too. Wonder if that was true.

Hey, I (still) resemble that. For the record, no Mutley Chix ever wore just duct tape on her tits. You are confusing history. This rock moment was actually pulled off by Diane Whitaker in the band, the Moles...and it was punk as fuck.

I was at that show with Jehovah's Sicknesses as well. We traveled from Tampa down to gainsville. It was funny because my buddy Vince (lead singer for Jehovah's Sicknesses) drove his van and the back window got smashed out because he had an FSU sticker on the back of it in Gatorville, LOL. Well thats what we thought anyway. I think that show was in '85? or was it 84? The Mutley Chix sucked by the way. But they were punk as fuck no doubt. Well, I guess thats all I got to say. I would love to hear from punx my age (I'm 37) who went to shows in the 80's hell maybe I fucked you? threw up on your floor? E-mail me at razorstryk@aol.com please put in the subject matter: "florida punk" cheers PS this is a great fucking site by the way!

The last post pretty much describes the Chix in a nutshell: "the Mutley Chix sucked, by the way. But they were punk as fuck, no doubt". Oh yeah, I was at that particular show and Jehovah's Sicknesses sucked as well.

Yes, the "Sicknesses" were no great band by any means. But as I said Vince was a good friend of mine. Not to mention I would carry in some of John's drums and get into the shows for free.
