I saw Hot Water Music a year or so ago at the Empty Bottle in Chicago with Small Brown Bike and Leatherface. Needless to say it was an amazing show. The boys espically George were estatic when I showed off my HWM tattoo. He then metnioned something about a 7" that would include a poster of fans HWM tattoos, I havent seen it yet.

I had an English class with Jason Black, and that's where I first noticed the HWM tattoo on his calf. Then my roomie Mikey K explained that ALL the HWM guys got those, and I thought..."Whoa! Cult-like!" I hung out in the periphery of the punk scene, meaning that my roommate Mikey K was friends with the emo kids (back when that word was new) and so I would get invited to vegan potlucks with him occassionally. All the punk kids I knew kind of sneered at HWM - I think because they aspired to "sell out" and get "successful" (oh the horror!) - but they all had the "Eating the Filler" 7" and would listen to it. HWM was like the ultimate punk kid guilty pleasure. Found their new site recently and enjoyed the MP3s off the new record. Still freaking good. And the Bruce Springsteen-style vocals are as strong as ever!
