The Damn Jamboree was, and sort-a still is the worst band you'll love to hate. Myself (Ben) was the lead vocal and the guy incharge of recording our sessions...Rob Rose was guitarist and vocals as well as occasional precussionist, Jeff Emminger was our chief "drum" player. The Drums in the beginning consisted of cardboard boxes and assorted cookie sheets, erector set pieces, etc. It was later on that we actually used a friend's drum kit, albeit, an old jazz set...it was metal flake gold and missing several key componants, but it was only as bad and out of tune as the rest of the band.
Based in Brandon, near Tampa, Florida...I say based, even though we never really went anywhere to play (exept once). Our big thing was recording...when most garage bands strive to play as acurately as possible their rendition of ACDC's "dirty deads done dirt cheap" or whatever..we were producing all original tunes...only because at the time we couldn't really play anything else. In fact we usually made up our songs as we went along...lyrics too. You would be amazed at how well that works!
Well after high school (1992)...Jeff moved to Gainsville and played in other bands (Cricket, Nice Guy Eddie).....Rob and Ben continued on with Damn Jamboree picking up other members along the way...Brian Ahrens on drums with his unique blues style drum playing and then Pete Kosmoski in the position later. (Pete sucked, but had fun.) The Band continued to rack out one tune after another with great success (among our friends at least) We made several albums...recording our songs with video camcorder mics and mixing it all down with only the finest Radio Shack equipment.
When Pete all but disappeard, and Ben moved to Virginia...the Band sort-a dissolved. Rob continued making his own solo stuff, recording on a four track recorder and actually became quite talented. When Ben returned to Florida....Rob had started and fronted the band "Hit the Planet" and had developed quite a decent digital home recording studio.
But, Rob never abandoned his roots...Rob and I (Ben) occasionally still get together when we have the time, and attempt to rack out some of the worst songs you love to hate...and yes we still make it up as we go. Although Jeff has been replaced by a Drum Machine (sorry Jeff)
Currently, Damn Jamboree is putting together a "boxed CD set" called "Cream of the Crap" it is a compilation of the Damn Jamboree's favorite tunes like: Ludicrous Society, I Think About Things, Hi and Low, Macrocosom, Ameobas on the Earth, and others... some of them will be digitally remixed as well. So if ya want a copy let me know and we'll work something out.
We often wonder how long "DJ" can continue. But I think the answer is..."As long as we still have fun, we will continue." After all the Damn Jamboree was all about having fun with music...always was, always will be.

After nearly 15 years....it looks like The Damn Jamboree might finally be nearing the end. It has played a useless yet important part in the lives of just a few. Even perhaps spawning the concept for the underground band "The RockCoaches" and forming the foundation of
the genre of "tard-rock."
Now all the members of Damn Jamboree are over 30, and frankly continuing with making songs of bodily expulsions and what-not just seems a bit strange. Rob and Ben had continued to attempt to resurrect something out of what was left of "DJ" in recent years with some success. However, it seems that the creativity spark that fueled the band is no just longer there.
Time is of importance now as adults, years ago, as loser teenagers, time was an inexhaustible resouce. Fortunately and unfortunately all the same, that is no longer the case.
And, so the final chapter of the greatest, crapiest band that never was, are being written. We often had wondered what the end would be like.
It's sad but it is necesseray to search for new concepts now and excercise new ideas. We were glad to influence some and annoy many others. A many thanks and apologies to those that were forced to listen.
The drums have gone silent, the guitar out of tune, the words are now lost, the end it does loom.
Thankyou to all that were a part in some way of The Damn Jamboree....Rob Rose, Jeff Emminger, Ben Eytalis, Brian Ahrens, Joe Robison, Jason F-Z, Pete Kosmoski, Joey Eytalis, and our original inspiration for annoyance, Bryan Lancaster
