Jorge was always a music enthusiast even in the midst of the sudo-kudo-punk rock days of the Big G. I remember his cheap ass cream bass he had with PsyVy as he rocked steady with the pocket even when he wasn't that good technically.
His playing, creativity and tastes grew rapidly as he helped co-create some of the most imaginative music Gainesville has seen before or since.
Last conversation I had with him YEARS ago, he was heading in jazz direction of sorts.
Are you still playing composing creating new tunes Jorge and if so, where for art thou?
Jorge was one of the worst bass players I ever heard. No sense of the beat and no clue as to what a bassplayer is supposed to be doing. Damn sure hope he took some lessons or quit!

you know what? you are right. absolutely
BUT
he was into it
and loved what he did
and loved music
clue or not
Probably the best bass player the scene produced. In the pocket and groove-based, Jorge grew from someone who had never played an instrument before his first gig to a total pro who also knew how to have a good time while playing. His nearly-subsonic bass playing in Strongbox was simply sublime and rocked like a mofo. Plus, he was a fun guy. Where is he?

I remember Cervera mainly as a high strung jerk and pathological liar. You could never tell where the bullshit ended and the truth started. Eventually NO-ONE who knew him believed a goddamn thing he said.
