John Winter,Hammond ,Sax, flute Don felder, Guitar Chuck Newcomb, Bass Mike Barnett , Drums --- comprised the late 60's band FLOW. A Jazz rock quartet who later moved to White Plaines NY and recorded album named FLOW for the jazz label CTI Creed Taylor. Don later joined you know who and travled the world.

There was little doubt in the late sixties that the best guitarist in Gainesville was Don Felder and those of us who wanted to play better sought him out at his music store jobs (Lipham's and Marvin Kay's)and his band gigs (Maundy Quintet and Gingerbread which became Flow). He was at his best playing with his sunburst Gibson 345 playing solid jam music (lot of blues, not so much jazz) backed by a real Hammond organ. At any of Don's performances, several free ones on the UF campus, you'd see young Tom Petty and other local musicians (including the lead guitarist from The Red Barons) listening carefully. Don was not a student, but a full-time musician, doing guitar set-ups at the music stores when he wasn't playing. Leaving G-ville was inevitable, though it seemed more likely he'd hook up with someone like the Allman Brothers instead of a California cowboy band.
