Jim Garcia played with all those bands and had a great time. While playing with [The Rare Breeds], a local bar owner (Dub Thomas) and a radio announcer/record store owner (Bob Norris) took an interest in the band and decided to act as our manager. They formed a record label called "D & B" and we went to Tampa, Fla. and recorded some songs. These were released under the "Cool as a Moose" label and played heavily in the Gainesville radio. One of the songs, "In the Night" became number 1 or 2 for a period of weeks in the top station in Gainesville at the time (WUWU). The recordings of The Rare Breed were originally in 45 rpms but later, they were transferred to CD. The members of The Rare Breed were: Jim Garcia and Billy Carter (guitars), Randy McDaniel (Bass), [Ron Gause] (organ), [Paul McArthur] (drums), Randy Ratliff (vocals) and Bryan Grigsby] (sax, flute, tamborine). One of the members of [The Rare Breed] has a web site in which you can hear the songs of [The Rare Breed]. This web site can be found at: www.alonsocersonsky.com/60s.htm

I remember The Rare Breed. In fact, I dated one of the guitar players. His name was Jim ______. He was real cute and nice. He must be in his 50's by now. However, I remember having a great time at Dub's and other beer-joints they played. I was at the time, a "groupie". However, right now I am married (for 20 yrs.) and have kids of my own. Live in DC but I don't want anyone to know my "tardy" past. Anyway, it was fun in Gainesville during he 60's. I believe that a record from The Rare Breed is available and one track is featured in a compilation by Gear-Fab Records of Orlando, Fla. Bye.
