Someone needs to write a history of Gainesville rock bands. When I lived in Gainesville it was a hotbed of original and cover bands. Don Felder used to work at Marvin Kaye's Music Center near University and 13th. In addition to Petty and Felder, there were many great musicians and bands in town and also always playing Fraternity Row on the weekends. When I was 14 I used to ride my bike there on a Friday night and crash one party after another watching bands like Mouse and the Boys with Brass, many R&B bands, psychedelic bands like Riff...the list goes on and on. It would make a great book.
