I remember what was probably our greatest show, at The Swamp, that fratty-sporty-drinky-eaty bar across from campus. They were having some sort of battle of the bands, and I entered PopCanon and VSOP. I tried to get GritKisser involved also, but they would have nothing of it. When we went on, Tom Miller introduced us with a hearty "Go Gators! I have to say, gator women are the most beautiful!" Or some such bullshit. He really got them riled into a frenzy of pro-gator enthusiasm. Then he says something like "Some of you may not like what we're about to play." And Treetop belts out his best appalacian mountain yodel, and all motion in the audience stops. Then I start in on saxophone, imitating Treetop's yodeling, and then Tom and Robby start going batshit crazy on their respective instruments. It was fast, intense, and LOUD nonstop for about 15-20 minutes. When we got done, the only applause was from PopCanon. Greatest gig of my life. We did not win the contest. Szechwan Pork did.
