Phil Culpepper is one of the pioneer trombinists for the central Florida/Gainesville ska scene. His musical stylings were first heard in the Orlando ska band The Holsteins in about 1993. Members from the Holsteins would go on to join more known bands such as Less Than Jake and ColdSpot Eight.

Phil left Orlando to attend college in Gainesville where he immediately was brought into the ska project The Shifters. It was here in The Shifters where Phil would meet future Know How guitarist Sean Kane. The two would eventually go on to join The Know How and were with the band from its meager beginnings until about 1999.

Currently Phil is a practicing attorney in the Washington, DC area. He sold his trombone to pay his tuition.

Trusting his great legal wisdom, Phil encouraged me to invest in Enron stock. I am now living in a box. What a hero.
