Correct spelling: Soal Blues, in keeping with all the intentional misspellings of the day - Human Beinz, Beatles, Byrds. Followed The Lords & The Odd chronologically. Jeff Jourard & Tom Webb still working together, this time with Mark Scarborough on drums, Howie Wise on bass - with a homemade cabinet the size of a refrigerator - schoolmate Steve Alday virtually kidnapped and forced to learn how to squall like Van Morrison in order to join the band - Alday used gallons of throat-numbing Chloroseptic spray to get over the agony of abusing his vocal cords for hours on end. Probably destroyed his speaking voice forever as a result. Howie eventually replaced by Amos Hilton "Buddy" Philman on bass. Buddy came from a relatively more polished professional band, Webb & Jourard mystified & very flattered at Philman's interest. More frat parties, some special functions, local watering holes such as The Pub, where the band could only squeeze next to the pinball machine, would rock well past closing time, whereupon Helen would lock the doors and declare it a Private Party, and the festivities would continue into the wee hours fueled by beer, poppers and weed. Sorry, folks but that was partying in 1966.
