This band formed when John McGuigan came back from a summer in California determined to change Gainesville into Hollywood. He said "dude" a lot, smoked those stupid clove cigarettes, died his hair platinum blonde, knew how to skank and slam in true Cally style, and rode a skateboard. So I guess he qualified.

McGuigan needed some musicians, so he collared Eric Engan to play bass, and stuck Jeff Hodapp on guitar, and then got Chad Whatshisname to play drums. Together the trio wrote some typical three-chord numbers and covered Taking Care of Business, Free Bird, and some New York Dolls song. The Liquid Plumbers terrorized local Newberry hotspot Catch 22, and started a riot in Orlando, as well as ruining a few parties in Gainesville. Probably the most memorable song was "Fuck Daytona," McGuigan's ode to the jewel of Florida's east coast. Engan and Hodapp eventually went on to greater fame in the Roach Motel. Who knows where McGuigan went . . .
