Wow.My name is on a web site! And Honey's too. We're alive and well. And just might play music again one day! We first auditioned at the Bent Card coffee house in Gainesville, Fla., when we were about 12-13, and ended up getting a regular gig there. The Bent Card was on University Avenue, across from the old handball courts. We played there through 1969-70. We also played at the Moose Lodge (maybe during band breaks for the Maundy Quintet?), sang at anti-war protests at the U of F Plaza of the Americas, the Flick in Miami, and the White Springs Folks Festival. Honey and I talk regularly - she's moved back to Gainesville, Fla., and I've lived in the Atlanta area since 1974. My mom and brother still live there. Some of the greatest times of my life were spent playing music in G'ville. I now work for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Been at the paper 27 LONG years. Over the years a few other musicians joined us - Dorian Oster played the flute occasionally. He went on to start the Sabine String Shop, and we had a great bass player named Johnny Beamsdurfer (sp?). Have no idea what happened to him...

Hi Anne, I think it's spelled DORAN Oster. He had an engineering degreee & designed & produced the famous Sabine tuners & feedback eliminators. He & I both played banjo & used to trade tunes & techniques. I lived in Gainesville from 1964-82 & played at the Bent Card in the 60s. I played guitar by myself & played with the Crazy Water Crystal Company (Tim Thompson, Larry Hetrick, Con Calloway). In the 70s, after the death of the Bent card, played fiddle with the Bucksnort Barndance Band. (my husband Dwight Rogers, Dave Forbes, Brent & Inslee Baldwin.) Gail Gillespie UF BA1969, MS 1980.
