I was just going through my old cds and found that my "Matter" cd is severely scratched. I've relocated to Ft. Myers in the last year and none of the used record stores down here really have extinct Gville Bands. If anyone could help me out by telling me where to find a copy of Matter, I'd be very appreciative.

Ft.Myers guy can try the downtown bar called the "Purple Iguana" (i think its called)where he played during the Matter tour in Ft.M and see if they have any still/info for you... also try the Used record & Pawn Shop (no way i'll remember the name, sorry) on the West side of Hwy 41 which is about half way between Edison Mall and the bridge that goes to N. Ft. Myers, as they have outstanding history of pulling out hidden gems in years past... otherwise call Gainesville for Hyde n Zeke's on University...they'll ship, as they are most excellent as well. :)
Hope it helps!

The years I spent in Gainesville, going to UF (1988-1994) were some of the best of my life. And, when I think about those years, the soundtrack that plays in my mind invariably starts with Big White Undies tunes.
I think the first time I heard them play (circa 1992-3?) was in the smallish club in downtown Gainesville, on University, that has been called "Rev," "Full Circle," and probably many other names. BWU where tucked into the back corner of the first floor, near the bar -- a pretty small space. There were dozens of people up front who had obviously heard them before. One of those fans handed them a Dr. Seuss book -- "Green Eggs and Ham" -- and asked them to sing the words to the tune of the "What I Am" (by Edie Brickell and New Bohemians). They had apparently done this before. It was unforgettable and hilarious. It worked perfectly. Instead of "What I am is what I am. Are you what you are, or what?" it was "I would not eat green eggs and ham. I do not like them, Sam-I-Am." Perfect.
Later, my friends and I heard them perform in, of all places, the parking lot at the Oaks Mall. I think it was really supposed to be a gig for the restaurant/bar that was located over near the movie theater -- or maybe it was something sponsored by Rock 104 -- but, for some reason, they put them out in the parking lot, which wasn't such great location when it started raining. As I recall, most of us stuck around to hear them finish their set. Nobody died of electrocution, but I'm sure there were close calls.
I also saw them much later, when it was just the guys, performing in another parking lot. This time, the venue was much more appealing. It was the top of a multi-level parking garage in downtown Orlando that had been leased out as a concert/party location for watching the fireworks on July 4th (or maybe New Year's Eve?). Anyway, it was great to see they were still performing; and I was impressed with the vocals. But, I couldn't help missing the sound of Adrienne's voice.
Speaking of her.... I am almost certain I had seen her perform with a jazz trio (or was it a quartet?) in a Gainesville club that I believe was called "Blue Note." It was upstairs in an old downtown building on University. That was a great club. I don't know if that performance was before BWU or during or after. Anyway, I sat there listening to them as long as they played. It was beautiful.
I would still be listening to their albums if they hadn't been in my car when it was stolen a few years ago. I tried to track down old copies at all the Gainesville record stores after that happened -- to no avail. I wasn't addicted to those songs or anything, but they always were -- and still are -- among my favorites.

I noticed that track 7, "Stumblin' Blocks," from "A Day Less Young," in the Files list on this page, does not download. All the others do. This just happens to be my favorite song from that album.
Can anyone upload a fresh copy of that song? I think the problem is caused by the apostrophe in the song title. So, if you do upload a copy, please title it "Stumbling Blocks" or "Stumblin Blocks," without the apostrophe. That character can cause problems in URLs.
If you know of some way I can get this song, but cannot upload it, please send me an e-mail. I had the CD, but it was stolen (along with the car it was in) a few years ago.
Many thanks!
