I don't remember when it was exactly, but my bro and I caught Sea Level one night and all I can say about them is that they are a hard band to forget. I saw them one evening and was totally impressed. After the show, in concert geek mode, I asked one of the band members if it would be possible to purchase a CD or cassaette. I don't know who it was, but one of the guys gave me a cassette which I still have and listen to, and apologies if any where needed, I thought if any band were to blow up out of Gainesville, it would be these guys. I don't know if they are still playing but perhaps I wish it were their video shoot I would have attended at the Florida Theater and saw in rotation on VH-1. This band had unforgettable talent as musicians and as songwriters.

I'm a fifty year old white guy (not that there anything wrong with that) with two teenage daughters, so I'm still rocking and trying to stay current relative to music. A buddy of mine turned me on to Sea Level back in the day (late seventies) so I immediately purchased their available vinyl. Saw them live at a venue in Georgetown (early eighties)I believe it was the 9:30 Club or the Bayou. They were really a tight band. The major thing that drew me to them was their style-production, music and lyrics. I always felt they were a step above a lot of popular bands at that time. I followed (tried to anyway) the careers of Chuck Leavell, Randall Bramblett, Davis Causey, etc.). When their music became available on CD it was priority for my collection. Also, their CDs are great gifts. I don't how many chicks I turned on to Sea Level over the years-but I know the last two are my girls. Who have told me they really dig Sea Level, especially On the Edge and Cats on the Coast. So you see, basically, their music is multi-generational and timeless.

I'm a little young to have seen sea level perform. It's too bad really. Those guys knew how to jam. My record collection recently got destroyed and sea level was among them. I'm not sure what the title was, but it had the song "Shake a leg" on it. I'm interested in finding another copy of it.
