A long time ago, maybe '91? I lived in the same house as Chuck, Scott and Jon, although not in the same apartment. One time I saw a bunch of guys hanging out and I went to knock on the door to see what was up. Before I knocked on the door, a bunch of people started gesticulating wildly motioning me to stop.

I almost walked in on a recording session for 20 Batteries.

I was there when the batteries went dead, after Scott sang in the shower stall. I think we might have listened to Cocteau Twins after that. Or maybe that was a different night.

The fact that Jon can't carry a tune in a large tune carrying contraption just makes them all the more lovable.

My first time to G'ville I got stay in the Spoke house, they weren't even there. They were on tour opening for Bruce Hornsby. I ended up buying some Hamm's and Alissa & Lewis shaved my head. Spoke played w/Radon at The Magic Wok in Orlando; prehaps the greatest punk show Orlando has ever seen. Young kids stage diving off the fountain and owners in the background freaking out. My shins were black and blue the next day. Spoke is a staple in the punk-rock diet. Sorry about all the hair in the bathroom guys.

I used to listen to this band all the time at the hardback in around 1992 I remember them having a farewell concert during the summer at the Covered Dish (because it was really hot) - did they keep playing? Now I live in Chicago and a friend from Gainesville who lives up here too gave me a book by Jon My roomates and I went to parties at that old house behind the miami subs - This band started me in a lifelong love of hearing very loud music in delapedated old buildings. Something that Chicago has plenty of.

Yeah Jill, I was at that show and it was a great way to end. Fantastic energy and everyone had a blast. Pretty sure there was band nudity on stage that night too.
